Ask most homeowners who keep up their property when the season begins for yard work, and you’d probably hear it’s springtime, when they fire up their mowers. But for the companies that make and sell outdoor power equipment—and we who tell you about those products—the more significant marker comes months earlier at the Green Industry & Equipment Expo, the industry’s trade show.
GIE+Expo takes place around the same time every year at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, and this year it runs October 19–21. More than 800 exhibitors next week will populate the indoor space, many showing their latest innovations in a new-products showcase. They’re not, though, merely showing the products you’ll see in stores and dealerships next year. Head out back for a favorite attraction of this show, and you can get your hands on everything from handheld tools to excavators. That outdoor demo area (see photo above) fills 20 acres this year.
If you won’t be heading to Louisville, you can still learn about the latest in power tools and outdoor gear. Just bookmark Tool to Power and watch next week for news about Briggs & Stratton, Cub Cadet, DeWalt, EGO Power Plus, GreenWorks, Honda, Husqvarna, Stihl, Toro, Worx and other manufacturers.
